This is Kai (I used to go by Elsa).
I just wanted to send an acknowledgment and a thank you.
When I took your trainer's in training class, I didn't fully appreciate how amazing an opportunity it was to learn from you. I had a lot of life happening during that time, and a lot has happened since (my Mom passed away in October of 2023).
You not only helped me finish my service dog training with Schatzi, gave Bug a great outlet, and Riddle the best foundation I could have possibly asked for, but you gave me an education that has become the basis of who I am now as a trainer. I have completely shifted over to positive reinforcement training within the last few years and I earned my CPDT-KA this last fall. I ran multiple group classes down in Pueblo with Bekah last year, and I'm now employed at a training center in Portland, Oregon.
The entire time I was studying for the CCPDT exam, I found your explanations and notes repeating in my head. Everytime I pick up a book, I see your words alongside what's written. I find myself using the same techniques and approaches to my peers because you gave me that skill and language. I am a better dog owner because of the kindness and insight you gave me and I am a dog trainer because of you.

We have used Pamela Leland's (COSDTC) training techniques for 2 1/2 years on our 3-year-old black Labrador. We cannot say enough great things about her knowledge, skills, and communication with us. Pamela presents the tasks we as learners/students must perform with examples by using her own dogs. This really helps us figure out what needs to be done in a great visual manner. At the moment, we have our 3-year-old black labrador doing Pamela's come/stay class. We have issues with him coming to us when he's in the yard or by the fence looking at other dogs. Pamela gave us a game to do with him by using treats when called for his reward. He is doing much better but still has the distraction issues sometimes. We are continuing to work on this behavior with the skills and techniques Pamela has given us. We would not have figured this out without Pamela's assistance and knowledge. We recommend using Pamela Leland as a trainer for your dog because you will enjoy your dog so much better and learn valuable lessons for a lifetime with your dog! By the end of this academic year, I plan to have both of these studies published! I'm already looking at graduate schools to get my Master's, setting me up for my doctorate, in one of three areas: animal behavior, applied behavioral analysis, or behavioral neuroscience. Once I finish another 15 training hours, I will be taking my CPDT-KA. I plan to take a gap year to earn my KPA and Zoo School instructed by Rick Hester from CMZ (Cheyenne Mountain Zoo)...
